Mildew is one of the best known and serious diseases of vineyards. It causes great damage if the conditions for its development are favorable. It affects all of a vine’s green organs and can cause production losses ranging from 50% to 75%.

This disease is caused by the fungus Plasmopara viticola and its presence leads to a series of problems on both leaves and fruit.

  • Attacks are very serious on leaves and can result in partial or total desiccation and even premature defoliation. In addition, it affects the correct lignification (becoming woody) of the shoots.
  • In fruit, the attacks can lead to the total loss of the bunch. Moreover, it leads to grapes that produce low quality wine. The musts of the affected berries turn out to be acidic and the wines obtained exhibit problems during storage.
