IDAI NATURE has participated in the Stakeholder Forum 2017 organized by the Technology Platform “Bio Based Industries JTI” in Brussels.
During the conferences the new lines of Innovation and development of the different projects promoted by the European Commission through the different financing tools provided, were presented.
Main guidelines:
• Circular economy and reuse of waste (energy and new materials).
• Adaptation and mitigation of climate change (new economy and smart cities).
• Protection of water and oceans (Blue Economy).
• Innovative agriculture and promotion of the primary sector in the economy.
The different results of ongoing projects related to the previous areas were presented too.
IDAI NATURE attended the various presentations and encouraged the creation of consortia to carry out innovative projects in innovative agriculture, especially those related to the search and application of inputs without chemical residue in order to obtain crop improvement, and control against agricultural challenges in terms of pests and diseases that threaten the agricultural sector and the environment.
The workshop was closed by Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission, who stated the importance of modern bio-economy in creating jobs, really needed in rural areas, and contributing to circular agricultural and forest practices, respectful with the climate and more efficient in terms of resources.
